In 2010 the Irish Government’s Tourist Board, introduced a voluntary “grading” scheme
Irish Bed & Breakfast homes could be awarded “stars”. Principal
amongst their stated reasons
for doing this was to facilitate :
- Irish B&B prices rising to equal or exceed those of UK B&Bs
- Irish B&Bs in remoter, less touristic locations getting more attention
September 2010 saw Fáilte Ireland confirm the “Approved” status
of Willow Lodge and subsequently writing
to offer the “opportunity” to
be a 4-Star B&B in Kenmare. However, Willow Lodge is neither remote
to equal, or exceed, UK B&B prices. Accordingly, like many other B&B’s
across Ireland, Willow Lodge chose to
remain an APPROVED B n B in Kenmare. So, though declining formal grading as a
4 star B and B in Kenmare
Willow Lodge continues to offer a warm welcome, genuine Irish hospitality, traditional
of breakfasts, friendly and experienced advice on travel and clean and well appointed
to the heart beat of the town – in short, everything you expect of a 4
star B n B in Kenmare.
Willow Lodge sees breakfast served daily in the relaxed atmosphere
of the enticing sunshine coloured dining room.
The traditional bread and scones are freshly home baked by Gretta
and all of the eggs come from the hens that range
free in Waterville
at Forest Farm.

We have always liked dogs and know how hard it can be to be separated from
them. That’s why we like
to think of ourselves as a pet friendly B&B
in Kenmare. Providing your dog is of a clean and quiet disposition
accompanied with his/her own bedding and water & feeding bowls there is
a good chance that we might
be able to accommodate you both. Best be on the
safe side though, and to avoid any misunderstanding or
us a call in advance to ensure that we can make the necessary arrangements
our mutual satisfaction.
